In celebration of International Women’s Day, Fotolab Kiekie and UN Women join forces to bring a feast of visual art by women creatives to the streets and walls of Amsterdam—and to the pages of the internet—throughout the month of March.
De Hallen Studios will play host to a two-day exhibition on March 24th and 25th, while there will be an outdoor display on Mercatorplein for the entire month. Meanwhile, there will be an online print sale of 90 works of art, with 15% of the proceeds going to UN Women.
We're supporting the event, and our Senior Art & Photography Editor Suzanne Tromp is one of its Guest Curators.
Outdoor Exhibition on Mercatorplein
March 8th - March 31st
Open to the public for the majority of the month, an exhibition of work curated by 10 enterprising women from Amsterdam West who have entered
into a dialogue about the art they're presenting. Kiekie hopes to stimulate
conversation at street level and make art more accessible to a wider audience.
Celebration in De Hallen Studios
March 24th - 25th
An extensive exhibition highlighting female creative talent. On day one, Geraldine Kemper will open the exhibition, and will auction her final photo from the TV program ‘Het Perfecte Plaatje.’ On day two, there will be a packed program of inspirational lectures, portfolio reviews, workshops and more.
Online Print Sale
March 1st - 31st
Throughout March, there will be an online print sale of 90 works of art by the selected artists. 15% of the proceeds will go to UN Women—a task force of the United Nations that is committed to the equal rights of women—with the rest of the proceeds going to the artists.
You’ll be able to check out the sale at kiekie-art.com.
