Growing up in the Enugu metropolis of South Central Nigeria, Adaeze Okaro was first introduced to photography by her father when she was six years old. Now, based in the Nigerian capital of Abuja, Adaeze captures stunning portraiture—but the influence of her upbringing is never far away. Presenting an effortless aesthetic that feels both intimate and voyeuristic, we were drawn to the way Adaeze’s portraits reflect an innate ability to make her subjects feel comfortable and at ease. She works with companies like Dove, Getty Images, and VSCO, and in 2021 she was selected for the Adobe Stock Artist Development Fund.
