Based between Palermo and Milan, photographer Roselena Ramistella investigates human stories related to the environment and broader social issues. She’s traveled Sicily’s mules tracks to meet people who have traded city life for remote rural communities, photographed the whimsical games of a child of divorce, and met a young woman who lives in a house full of strange pets. Roselena spoke to us about “The Warmth,” a series of videos and portraits documenting refugees and asylum seekers in Sicily, taken with a thermal imaging camera. As the hues of their bodies respond to her questions about their pasts and futures, her project endeavors to record the inarticulable.
