It’s easy enough to get a bit of Parra for yourself. The Dutch artist has designed brightly colored, slightly surreal abstract works to appear on skate decks, t-shirts, book covers and more. But he also has a thriving fine art practice: His paintings, sculptures, drawings and textile works have been exhibited in solo shows around the United States, Europe, and Asia. In 2018, we had the chance to help him make “Leave me alone, but put me on the guestlist”—a giant rabbit sculpture created for the Appelsap music festival in Amsterdam. WePresent founder Nalden sat down with him after the fact to talk about the piece, the Amsterdam creative scene, and the thing skateboarding and artmaking have in common.
