Born in Brazil, Mico Toledo is a creative director and documentary photographer. In the commercial world, Mico is renowned as an inventive advertiser, but in the art world he’s more known for his work on unseen communities around the world. We were drawn to Mico’s work, “Faces of Standing Rock,” and featured it on WePresent. In it, he documented the peaceful but strong-willed group of protesters who fought against the Dakota pipeline. Projects that Mico’s worked on have repeatedly won prizes at Cannes Lions Awards, London International Awards and Clio Awards.
“There is such importance in art tackling stories of inequality because the big mainstream media usually do not do so.”
