Dominican painter Huldá Guzmán’s vividly hued landscapes and interior scenes capture the beauty of her tropical surroundings. Though she paints primarily from direct observation, her perspectival manipulations and unusual narratives add a surreal twist to her scenes. Guzmán has exhibited in Santo Domingo, London, Mexico City and New York, and her work can be found in the collections of Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Pérez Art Museum Miami and the Museu de Arte de São Paulo. On WePresent, she explained the origins and themes behind five of her paintings.
