Living and working in Budapest, Antal Bánhegyesy is a Romanian-born photographer whose work focuses on social and political criticism. We featured Antal’s project Orthodoxia, which explores an intriguing response to the end of communist rule in Romania: the mass erection of Orthodox churches. The series sees Antal travel over 10,000 km—from rural villages to city centers—to photograph 200 churches in all their breathtaking, often extravagant, splendor.
