Alex Prager is an artist primarily working in photography and film. Her most well-known works see her stage vivid photographs of crowds that resemble stills from mid-century films. Provided with a large selection of characters, the viewer is able to hone in on certain characters, each telling their own story. Her use of costume and props reference tropes of pop culture and the relevance of mundane objects such as vehicles, food and drink and trends in style. She transforms everyday moments by looking at them with a bird's eye view and presenting them in glorious technicolor. She lives and works in Los Angeles.
“There’s the truth, and the fiction or fantasy. The line gets a bit blurry, which I always think is more representative of real life anyway.”
