The Kusp and WePresent are bringing together creative industry leaders and graduates for a series of live events across July, August, and September. The program will consist of three trailblazers who will discuss their journey to success, sharing knowledge and insight with the next generation of creatives from underrepresented communities.
The Speaker
Sam Pilling is an award-winning director based in London. Sam graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2009, and has since directed music promos for the likes of Chaka Khan, Usher, The Weeknd, Run The Jewels, DJ Shadow, SBTRKT and Major Lazer. Sam’s work always contains a strong sense of visual storytelling with a sprinkling of dark humour, and last year he directed his first short film in collaboration with Little Simz and WeTransfer, which made Vimeo’s coveted 10 Best of the Year list out of 700 other Staff-Picked films.
His work has been screened at film festivals across the world including SXSW, Cannes, Camerimage, Raindance, Edinburgh, Berlin, Krakow, and the BFI Future Film Festival in London. He has worked with talent including Harold Perrineau, Riz Ahmed, Jade Anouka, C.J Beckford, Shaniqua Okwok, and Simbiatu Ajikawo.
The Kusp
The Kusp is a collective that seeks to connect brands and professionals with some of the most talented creatives from underrepresented and marginalized communities. In their own words, “We serve the underserved. We connect and support those under-represented in Fashion, Film & Television.” They are “A gateway for diverse creatives from marginalized communities to excel.” Through their work, they look to level the playing field across the creative industries and encourage underrepresented creatives to reach their full potential.
