Wintergatan is a Swedish folktronica band from Gothenburg, comprised of Martin Molin, Evelina Hägglund, Marcus Sjöberg and David Zandén. The band released their album “Wintergatan” in 2013 and the following year, Martin embarked on a marble-based mission. The resulting marble machine, which was years in the making, used an estimated “3,000 parts and 3,000 screws, 500 Lego parts, five full-size sheets of Baltic birch plywood and 2,000 marbles.” Martin spoke to WePresent about his creation and why he had to see his plan through; the results of which catapulted his band into the mainstream and, at the time of writing, have been watched nearly 200 million times online.
