Discovered by director Wong Kar Wai after seeing his student work, Hong Kong artist Wing Shya made his name as an on-set stills photographer on some of the most iconic film productions of the late 20th Century. Having returned to Hong Kong after studying in Canada, photographer and director Wing is one of Asia’s best-known artists. A regular contributor to publications, among them i-D, Vogue Italia, TIME and 032C and selected clients including Louis Vuitton, Maison Martin Margiela, Pepsi, Nike and Swarovski; Wing’s work has been widely exhibited, from the Mori Art Museum in Japan to Art Basel Miami. Jaime Wolf went to meet him in Hong Kong for WePresent to see how he works, and to talk about the creativity that has taken the world by storm for decades.
