Throughout her career, London based designer Vanessa Dewey has always thought of herself as more of a connector. Fascinated by culture since she was a kid, Vanessa had dreams of becoming an archeologist and pursued a career in international relations, before yielding to her love of creativity and the connection it allowed all the communities and cultures around her. Being in charge of packaging for toy giant Mattel was somewhat accidental, and her skills have seen her work with brands like Adobe, WPP and the BBC. We spoke to Vanessa as part of our “Epiphanies” series to find out how she discovered her creative talent, and what she did with it that led to her becoming the art director at Mattel.
“There was something about design that combined with everything else which had been swirling in my head.”
