Tomoyuki Tanaka is a Japanese architect based in Tokyo. He teaches at the Graduate School, Kumamoto University, and works extensively with architectural design, urban planning and drawing. We encountered Tomoyuki’s work via his incredible drawings of urban structures in his home country. His eye for detail is so precise it can sometimes seem like he can see through buildings, as evidenced in his intricate depiction of the infamous Shinjuku Station in Tokyo. In our interview, Tomoyuki spoke about how he approaches his drawings, and why train stations are like miniature societies.
