A signature element of Paris-based artist Stefania Tejada’s work is the presence of powerful women. Growing up in a small Colombian city and attending a strict catholic school, Stefania had a very limited view of womanhood—she needed inspiring women to look up to so she started to paint them herself. Often dressed in sharp outfits, surrounded by nature, and always armed with a piercing gaze, the women in her paintings exude status. Through these vibrant and liberating works, Stefania wants to challenge the traditional limitations placed on women and breathe new life into established narratives. It’s a message that clearly resonates and Stefania’s work has been exhibited around the world and published in the likes of Lenny Letter, Marie Claire France, and Elle México.
