Based in India, Snigdha Poonam is a writer and journalist whose work has appeared in the Hindustan Times, the New York Times, The Guardian and many more. Her debut book, “Dreamers,” was published in 2018, and was widely praised for its study of India’s young generation. We interviewed Snigdha about “Waiting: A Portrait of Young India,” a collaboration she did with the photographer Prarthna Singh in which they photographed and interviewed a diverse range of young Indian people about their social, political and economic backgrounds and their hopes for the future. Snigdha won the 2018 Crossword Book Award for nonfiction and was longlisted for the 2019 PEN America Literary Awards.
