Sergei Pavlov is a Russian-Finnish photographer, whose work focuses on analog black and white photography. Throughout his career he’s created documentary series’ and fashion editorials that are underpinned with emotion and intensity. Sergei submitted his work to us as part of an open call, Your Work Here, on the theme of “black and white,” and was soon selected as one of the winning entries. In the feature, we showcased some of his portraits of the Finnish LGBTQ community. Aside from publishing and exhibiting work across Europe, Sergei is also a professional photography teacher.
“When you’re part of a minority you want to feel safe, and feel like you’re part of something. I wanted to create photographs that I would want to be in myself, hoping that others would see themselves in them too.”
