Sayuri Ichida is a UK-based, Japanese photographer. She graduated from Tokyo Visual Arts College in 2006, and later completed an MA in Photography Arts at the University of Westminster. Her practice is focused around themes of self-identity, as she uses her life experience and memories to create series that have a noticeably quiet personality. As she says, “timelessness is the most important part of my work. I always try to be as far as possible from anything fast.” We featured her project “Absentee,” in which she explored the sense of isolation she felt as she grieved passing of her mother.
