British singer and songwriter Sampha—full name Sampha Sisay—first rose to prominence on the tails of his high-profile collaborators, lending his soulful, aching vocals to tracks by SBTRKT, and later Drake, Beyoncé, Kanye West, and Frank Ocean. But with his 2017 debut EP “Process,” he established himself as a profoundly talented—and popular—artist in his own right. The album would go on to win that year’s Mercury Prize, beating out Ed Sheeran and Stormzy. To celebrate the release of “Process,” Sampha partnered with WeTransfer and British fashion designer Grace Wales Bonner on a zine titled Sky Life—a digital version of which was downloadable on our platform. A collection of photographs and Sampha’s own lyrics, the project illuminates the artist’s Sierra Leonean roots, and offers an intimate insight into how he views the world.
