Rufai Zakari is an artist from Bawku, Ghana. He developed a fully-fledged interest in art after moving to Nima, a Muslim community in Accra, and he went on to study it at the Ghanatta college of art and design. He then dabbled as a graffiti artist, before landing on the medium he’s renowned for today—using recycled plastics to create vibrant collages intended to send a message about the environment and our effect on it. We spoke to him about why the message of sustainability is so close to his heart.
