American filmmaker Ross Haines is known primarily for his commercial work. In the past, he’s directed commercials for the likes of Nike, Travelocity, Ford, Jeep, Vans, and Jose Cuervo. But at WePresent, we were more intrigued by one of his personal projects: A beautifully shot documentary about master surfboard craftsman Gary Linden, titled “The Agave Gun.” We spoke to Ross about the genesis of the 2017 project, surf film clichés, and playing with the unexpected.
