Brisbane-based photographer Raphaela Rosella specializes in long-form visual storytelling that dispels stereotypes and challenges stigmatization. Her documentary work has looked at motherhood, poverty, homelessness, and incarceration, among other themes, drawing attention to how class and gender can affect outcomes. Raphaela featured on an episode of audiovisual, a WePresent podcast made in collaboration with the International Center of Photography in New York. She opened up to us about her project “You'll Know It When You Feel It,” an intimate portrait series that tells stories of social disadvantage in Australia, and the effects it’s had on women in her life.
