Qarim Zam is a documentary photographer from Stone Town, the old port of Zanzibar City, Tanzania. Working with only a smartphone, he captures the everyday magic of his birthplace, from its narrow alleys to its turquoise waters. “I grew up happy,” he says, and capturing that happiness and joy is a big part of why he takes photos now.
