Paola Paredes is an Ecuadorean photographer who focuses on issues facing the LGBT community, exploring contemporary attitudes towards homosexuality in her home country. Since 2014 she has been working on a trilogy of projects, the first of which, “Unveiled,” was a real-time recording of her coming out to her parents, while the second, “Until You Change,” saw her place herself as the protagonist in a retelling of the cruel realities of conversion therapy. We featured the third part, “Skin Deep,” on the site, an interactive series of photos of queer people in Ecuador, which served to dismantle stereotypes about those who have to live with the shifting context of legal rights and public opinion in the country.
