Motswana-Canadian artist Pamela Phatsimo Sunstrum paints fantastical worlds where the past, present, and future collide. Drawing inspiration from mythology, art history, science, and thrift shop finds, she stages mixes motifs from different periods and cultures, and renders the results in lushly colored layers of translucent paint. Though she’s best known for her paintings, Pamela’s practice also encompasses drawing, installation, and animation; and her work has been exhibited in Johannesburg, Capetown, London, New York, and beyond.
