New York-based jazz group Onyx Collective has won over fans around the world with their freewheeling sound. Founded by saxophonist Isaiah Barr in 2014, the group is known for its improvisational live sets, often performed in impromptu gigs around the city by a rotating roster of instrumentalists. In 2018, Onyx Collective featured on WePresent as part of a monthly series of live sessions with innovative musicians you’ve (probably) never heard of, hosted by world-renowned DJ Gilles Peterson.
