British photographer Olivia Harris steps into private worlds and turns the stories found therein into intimate, often affecting imagery. Her personal projects include series on Londoners in lockdown, drag school graduates, teenage debutantes, and British Hijabis; and she’s taken on assignments for clients including Time, the New York Times, Save the Children and The Guardian. In 2018, Olivia Harris traveled to Ireland to document how the campaign to overturn its strict anti-abortion laws was changing Irish culture and society. As part of WeTransfer’s partnership with the World Press Photo awards, she spoke to us about the challenge of covering the polarizing issue with nuance and neutrality.
