Brooklyn-based photographer Myles Loftin has made it his mission to showcase and celebrate communities that have been excluded from histories of photography, as well as the mainstream media. Much of his work focuses on facets of the Black queer experience. A graduate of the Parsons School of Design, Loftin has created campaigns for Calvin Klein, Nike, and Converse, and has had work featured in Dazed, i-D, The Fader, and New York Magazine. In 2022, WePresent spoke to Loftin about his series “True Beauties,” which captured the faces of New York’s legendary House of LaBeija.
“Everybody is different. Everybody has their own thing. Everybody is unique in their own way.”
