Min Liu is a Taiwanese animation artist. She specializes in hand-drawn cel animation, the process of creating 2D animation by layering sheets of transparent plastic. The technique is much more arduous than animating digitally, but the beautiful effect it creates is something its computer-based alternative could never recreate. Her animations are notable for their dark sense of humor and vibrant colors, and after discovering her eye-catching gifs on Instagram, we interviewed her about her inspirations and process. Min’s work has been featured in Juxtapoz Magazine, Hi Fructose Magazine, and Southeast Review.
