American photographer Melissa Bunni Elian studied at Columbia Journalism School, and her work has a deeply journalistic atmosphere. Her pictures tell stories; such as her series on teenage self-esteem which followed a 14-year-old girl, Maddie Meyers, who battled cancer when she was younger. In 2018, Melissa was the subject of an episode of audiovisual – a podcast about photography, trust and breaking into new worlds – created by WePresent and the International Center of Photography in New York. Melissa’s work has been published in CNN, the New York Times, and NBC News, and she’s also produced work for Google, The Equal Justice Initiative and UN Women.
