Mel Perreault is a Montreal based tattoo artist and illustrator. Their work primarily explores Queer (imagined) realities, gender performance and self-determined identities. Their series “The Tammys” depicts a Tom of FInland-style queer utopia. Taking cues from the subversive spirit of the queer community, they create utopic tableaux of gender-expansive lesbian, trans and non-binary individuals free from the dictates of cis-heteronormative society, while cheekily re-appropriating the visual codes of post-war Americana.
