Matt Willey is a graphic designer living in Brooklyn, and the former art director of the New York Times Magazine. He creates clever and conceptual work – like the title graphics for the hit TV show “Killing Eve” – and is renowned as one of the best graphic designers in the world. In a feature for WePresent, we sat Matt down with his friend and longtime creative collaborator Dan Crowe for a chat about mentors, magazines, and creative inspiration. The pair previously launched the magazines Zembla and Port together, and in 2021 launched literary magazine INQUE.
“I often have strong instincts about how something should look or work or feel, and sometimes that’s all it is, an instinct. I can’t justify it beyond that.”
