Born in Baghdad and with Assyrian heritage, Maryam Yousif is an Iraqi artist specializing in ceramics. Having emigrated to the US at a young age, she uses her work as a way to explore her roots. Her clay characters are inspired by everything she loves, from the ancient mythology and 90s pop culture of the Middle East to fashion designers like Issey Miyake.
