Born in 1985, the painter Martin Kazanietz aka Martin Gordopelota lives and works in Patagonia, Argentina. His country is one that has a long and celebrated history when it comes to football, and Martin’s art is a reflection of that. We were engrossed by his vivid and imaginative paintings of amateur football culture in his region, and featured them on WePresent alongside an interview. In it, he spoke about how his fanaticism for local football helped soothe his feelings of anxiety. Martin’s work has been featured on VICE, It’s Nice That, Soccer Bible and many more. His large-scale murals can be found around Argentina.
“I’m not a doodler. I rarely draw from nothing; it’s really difficult for me to use a pencil if I don’t have an idea of something I want to draw.”
