Marta Syrko is a Ukrainian photographer who uses analog, natural elements to create supernatural images. Her subjects multiply before our eyes—their edges not quite worldly—existing within plumes of colored smoke, in reflections, or in what appear to be paintings. She uses light, glass and water—despite a lifelong fear of water after a traumatic childhood experience—to build extraordinary images which perfectly match her work for the posters of the Dutch National Opera & Ballet’s fantastical productions.
