London-based Manuka Honey—real name Marissa Malik—has taken over clubs around the world with her unique sound, which reimagines sounds from across the Latinx diaspora, including dembow, baile funk and reggaeton. Born to Mexican and Pakistani parents in Connecticut, she grew up deeply spiritual, and serves as the resident astrologer at the British media platform gal-dem. In 2022, WePresent spoke to Manuka Honey about her musical journey, and the role of astrology in her creative practice.
