Born in 1980, Lisa Sorgini is an Australian photographer who creates rich and textured images that explore the reality of family relationships, specifically the connection between a child and their mother. Our interview with Lisa focused on one of her most deeply personal works, “In Passing,” which documented a period in her life when she was simultaneously grieving the death of her mother and celebrating the birth of her first son. Lisa has exhibited her work globally and was the winner of the Lens Culture Critics Choice award in 2020. She’s been featured in the New Yorker, TIME Magazine, Creative Review and National Geographic.
