Based in Philly, Kurt Vile is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. The former lead guitarist of The War on Drugs, Kurt is known for his no-frills style of immersive, country-inflected psych rock. It was his collaboration with musical soulmate Courtney Barnett and a particular concert of theirs that caught our attention. “Friends of Wonder” was featured on WePresent, and the story of how a short film, directed and edited by Irene Chin and Kurt P. Vincent – spotlighting the history of The Landmark Loew’s Jersey Theater and the volunteers who run it and presented through the lens of a Kirt Vile and Courtney Barnett concert hosted there – came to be.
