The work of New York-based freelance photographer Kathy Shorr has appeared in publications from the New York Observer to Photodot Korea to French Photo and been exhibited widely across the USA. In addition to her practice, Kathy teaches documentary photography at schools and nonprofits including The School of Visual Arts. For one of her projects, she took a series of 101 portraits of Americans who were shot and survived, but whose lives changed forever in that moment. Kathy spent two years traversing 29 states to meet her subjects, realizing as she went that “there really is no sanctuary in America that is immune to gun violence.” We featured SHOT as part of the series “WeTransfer Against Gun Violence”: looking at how creative minds are taking on the issue.
