Káryyn is a Syrian Armenian vocalist, composer and producer based in LA. Since she began releasing music through her own label, Antevasin, in 2017, her work has generated significant buzz. Descended from survivors of the Armenian genocide, and with strong familial ties to Syria, Kárryn’s music weaves whole generations and histories into the present: her ethereal vocals transcending geography and timelines. WePresent met her in LA to talk about her debut album – set to drop 48 hours after our conversation – “The Quanta Series,” which began taking shape in 2011 and is a convergence of Káryyn’s many interests, from quantum physics to the Vedas. Beyond reveling in her live performance of the record, we spoke to her about her roots, inspirations, and her artistic journey.
