Based in London, artist and photographer Juno Calypso’s work has been featured in exhibitions and publications the world over. With dreams of a career as a fashion photographer, Juno didn’t set out to create the self-portraits and characters she is now known for. It was while studying for her BA that Juno began taking pictures of herself disguised as a character, Joyce. She spent her student loan on flights to Pennsylvania to photograph herself in the state’s honeymoon hotels, gaining access by posing as a travel writer. The resulting project “The Honeymoon” won her the British Journal of Photography Series Award in 2016, among others. Her dark humor, surreal style, and unique perspective on the “selfie” made us excited to feature her work on WePresent and learn about how it comes to life.
