Born in Lancashire and settled in London, author and poet Joelle Taylor has won critical acclaim with her work exploring the experiences of butch lesbian counterculture. The recipient of the 2021 T.S Eliot Prize, she is also the co-curator and host of Out-Spoken Live, a poetry and music series at the Southbank Centre; a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature; and the founder and former artistic director of the SLAMbassadors championship for young poets. In 2023, Taylor was part of BLUE NOW, a series of live performances of Derek Jarman's seminal film “Blue,” presented by WeTransfer.
