Ian Woods is an Illinois-born, Dallas-raised, and Florida-based artist, whose practice is centered around hand-carved collages of well-known pop culture figures. and raised in Dallas/Ft Worth. His process sees him layer 2 images on top of one another, using an exacto knife to cut a pattern into them, and creating one final piece that combines the two. We spoke to Ian about how he gets his work seen, how accepting mistakes is vital to his process, and why commercial work can actually be easier than his personal passion projects.
