South Korean illustrator Henn Kim trades in what she calls “beautiful dark twisted fantasies.” In her black-and-white images, familiar objects appear in surreal combinations—a girl sitting on oversized books; a couple hugging in the confines of an hourglass. There’s always a deeper sense of metaphor and visual poetry at play, a distillation of complex emotions into simple images. It seems that her style has resonated with audiences, too: Henn has amassed a huge following on Instagram, and in 2018, she designed the cover for Sally Rooney’s bestseller “Normal People.” We first discovered Henn’s work when she submitted to Your Work Here, a massive open call where we invited WeTransfer users to submit their artwork on the theme of "black and white.”
