Canadian musician Grimes—born Claire Boucher—has infiltrated the mainstream with experimental electronic music that embraces both the super lo-fi and the super hi-tech. The Montreal-born artist first rose to prominence with the release of her third studio album, Visions, in 2012. That breakout was followed by 2015’s “Art Angels” and 2020’s “Miss Anthropocene,” both of which were met with critical acclaim. Grimes’ music, videos, and public image all reflect a deep-rooted interest in technology, futurism, and pushing the limits of creativity. In 2020, she partnered up with WeTransfer to invite fans from all over the world to superimpose themselves in the DIY music video for her track “You’ll Miss Me When I’m Not Around” as a way of communicating with her fans.
