Gianluca Gimini is an Italian designer with a sense of humor. Working across product design, graphic design, and visual art, he embraces bright colors, playful shapes, hyperrealism—all of which he hopes will elicit a smile from the viewer. We were charmed by Gianluca’s “Velocipedia” series, which sees him translating wonky sketches of bicycles drawn from memory into slick 3D renders. In 2019—10 years after the project began—a selection of his renders were brought to life and displayed in an exhibition at the Museum of Old and New Art in Tasmania.
