São Paulo-based illustrator and designer Francisco Martins’ abstract patterns, bold typography, and whimsical drawings have appeared on beer bottles, textiles, prints, and posters, and on some of the biggest editorial and commercial platforms in Brazil and beyond. We were drawn to his vivid color palette and clever visual metaphors—not to mention his unusual career path. Martins studied at a school that specialized in architecture and engineering before steering toward design, and once worked for the visual artist for one of Brazil’s most famous puppet troupes.
