Over a range of mixtapes, EPs and studio albums, California indie rock duo Sam France and Jonathan Rado—better known as Foxygen—have proven themselves to be dedicated musical experimentalists. We found out all about their process in 2017, when Foxygen premiered the “This Is Spinal Tap”-inspired music video-cum-mockumentary for their single “Avalon” (directed by Cameron Dutra, a high school friend of the band) on WePresent, and shared their thoughts on chaos, collaboration, and the challenges of going meta.
