Brazilian photographer and director Fernanda Frazão is endlessly inspired by her home country—its rising middle class, its natural beauty, and its marginalized communities. We were first drawn to Fernanda’s “Amazon B Side” series: Shot while traveling on an all-inclusive holiday cruise down the Rio Negra, it offers a window into a world of absurdity and middle-class aspiration in the wake of a rapidly changing economic climate. Other documentary projects include the 2018 film “Chega de Fiu Fiu,” a feature about sexual harassment against women in public spaces in Brazil. Fernanda also produces advertising and corporate content for the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Facebook.
“My earliest memories of falling in love with imagery involve me opening up a big box of family photographs and gluing them all over my bedroom wall.”
