Liz Omotosho is an Italian-Nigerian artist based between London and Leicester. We featured her series “Ẹ ṣí ọkàn yín sílè,” which depicts the women of the Celestial Church of Christ. The series began with a visit to her grandmother’s church at the CCC Archdiocese in Makoko, Lagos, and via the resulting paintings, Omotosho seeks to better understand and express her experience growing up in the church, and to finally begin closing the distance between her experience of it and the understanding of others.
