Dimitris Anastasiou is a Greek painter best known for his hyper-realistic portraits and “storied paintings,” exploring consciousness and the peculiarities of human experience within the backdrop of modern Athens. In 2018 he applied this same style to his first graphic novel, “A=-A” (A equals negative A). We spoke to Dimitris about the similarities between the novel and his previous work, and how his own subconscious thoughts found their way into his protagonist’s actions.
